TR760-03 – Textron Aviation OEM Tire Inflation Valve Assembly

Available now on the Airparts.aero Marketplace.

Overview

The TR760-03 is a genuine OEM, high-pressure tire inflation valve assembly, a flight-critical component engineered for use with tube-type tires on a wide variety of aircraft, including those from Textron Aviation. Manufactured to the stringent standards of the Tire and Rim Association (TR), this valve stem is designed to be mechanically clamped to the wheel rim, providing a secure and reliable air passage to the inner tube. Fabricated from high-quality brass, the TR760-03 ensures a long service life and the positive seal required to maintain proper tire pressure for safe ground and flight operations.

Key Features

  • Mechanical Clamp-In Design: Unlike automotive rubber snap-in stems, this valve features a fully threaded body. It is installed with a rubber grommet and metal washer on the inside of the wheel and secured with a lock nut on the outside, creating a robust, mechanically-clamped seal against the wheel rim.
  • High-Pressure Capability: The all-metal body and clamped installation are designed to safely contain the high air pressures used in aircraft tires, which are significantly greater than automotive applications.
  • Durable Brass Construction: The valve stem body is machined from solid brass, providing excellent strength and inherent resistance to corrosion, ensuring the integrity of the valve stem throughout its service life.
  • Industry Standard: As a Tire and Rim Association (TR) standard part, it guarantees universal compatibility and interchangeability with any wheel designed to accept a TR760-03 valve stem.
  • Genuine OEM Specification: As a component specified by Textron Aviation, it guarantees the use of the correct materials and quality control for installation on their type-certified aircraft.

Aircraft Compatibility

The TR760-03 is a standard valve stem used on the wheels of a vast number of general aviation aircraft that utilize tube-type tires.

  • Common Aircraft Manufacturers:
    • Textron Aviation: Cessna Latitude
    • Piper
    • Mooney
    • And numerous other certified and experimental aircraft.
  • Applicable Textron Aircraft
    • Citation Latitude
      • List not comprehensive, may be applicable on other models.

Applications

The TR760-03 is an essential component for aircraft wheel and tire maintenance:

  • Tire Installation & Replacement: A new valve stem assembly is often installed whenever a new inner tube and tire are mounted on a wheel.
  • Pressure Retention: Provides the sole port for inflating the tire with nitrogen or air and for checking tire pressure during pre-flight inspections.
  • Component Replacement: Replaced if the threads are damaged, if the body is corroded, or if the rubber sealing grommet shows signs of cracking or degradation.

Why Choose TR760-03?

Proper tire pressure is absolutely critical for aircraft safety, affecting ground handling, takeoff performance, and landing rollout. A leak from a failed valve stem can lead to a flat tire and a potential loss of directional control. The TR760-03 is an engineered solution, not a simple valve. Its robust, all-metal, clamped-in design is a stark contrast to a flimsy automotive rubber stem and is required to handle aviation pressures and operating conditions. Using a genuine, certified TR760-03 is the only way to ensure the integrity of your aircraft's tires.

The TR760-03 valve assembly creates a seal by compressing a soft rubber grommet against the curved inner surface of the wheel rim. The threaded body of the valve passes through a hole in the wheel. A metal washer and lock nut on the outside are tightened to a specified torque. This action clamps the wheel rim between the inner rubber grommet and the outer metal washer, creating a durable, airtight seal that is independent of the tire's inflation pressure. This mechanically secured design is essential to prevent the valve stem from being ejected or failing under the high pressures and significant G-forces experienced during landing and takeoff.

Note: This is a flight-critical component. Installation must be performed by a certified A&P mechanic or at a qualified tire shop. The lock nut must be torqued to the value specified in the aircraft or wheel maintenance manual. A new valve core (TRC4) should always be installed in a new valve stem.
