The Eaton Gamah™ 24096-250C seal is a self-energizing seal. It is installed in a groove between two flat flanges. The U-shaped channel of the seal provides an initial light spring force, creating a preliminary seal. When the system is pressurized, the fluid or gas enters the U-shaped channel. This internal pressure acts on the two opposing lips of the seal, forcing them outward with immense force against the two flange faces. The higher the system pressure, the harder the seal lips are forced against the sealing surfaces, creating a seal that is dynamically responsive to system conditions. This design provides an extremely high-seating stress on the sealing line, allowing it to maintain a seal even on surfaces with minor imperfections and across a vast range of temperatures that would cause a standard O-ring to shrink or expand and lose its seal.

Note: This is a flight-critical sealing component. Installation must be performed by a certified A&P or AME mechanic in strict accordance with the current Embraer maintenance manual. Sealing surfaces must be meticulously clean, and free of nicks and scratches. The seal must be installed without being bent or damaged.
