CEET32 – Thermoid CEET Black Neoprene Steel Enforced Ducting 8 Inch

Available now on the Airparts.aero Marketplace.

Overview

The Thermoid CEET32 is a high-performance, dual-ply flexible air duct, engineered for demanding applications in certified and experimental aircraft. This 8-inch diameter ducting is part of Thermoid's renowned Aeroduct® line, designed to safely convey hot or cold air and fumes throughout the airframe. Its robust, multi-layer construction features a spring-steel wire helix reinforcement completely encapsulated between two plies of neoprene-impregnated fiberglass fabric. This design provides superior durability and a smooth inner wall for efficient airflow, making it the ideal choice for aircraft heating, ventilation, and avionics cooling systems.

Key Features

  • Dual-Ply Neoprene Construction: Features two plies of high-quality fiberglass fabric, fully impregnated and coated with a durable black neoprene rubber compound. This dual-layer design offers enhanced durability and resistance to tearing and punctures.
  • Encapsulated Steel Helix: A bronze-plated or copper-coated spring-steel wire helix is sandwiched between the two plies. This internal reinforcement provides excellent crush resistance and flexibility, while its encapsulation prevents it from snagging or abrading adjacent components.
  • Smooth Inner Bore: The inner fabric liner provides a smooth interior wall, which significantly reduces air friction loss and turbulence compared to unlined or single-ply ducting. This ensures maximum airflow efficiency for heating and cooling systems.
  • Wide Temperature Range: Engineered to maintain its flexibility and structural integrity in a wide operational temperature range, from -65°F to +350°F (-54°C to +177°C), making it suitable for both cold air induction and firewall-forward heating applications.
  • Fiberglass Cord Reinforcement: An external fiberglass cord, coated with neoprene, is wrapped around the exterior, providing an additional layer of protection against abrasion and wear.

Aircraft Compatibility

Thermoid CEET32 is a universal ducting product used across the entire aviation industry where a robust, 8-inch flexible duct is required.

  • Common Applications:
    • Cabin Heating & Defrost Systems: Routing hot bleed air or air from an exhaust shroud heat exchanger to the cabin and windscreen.
    • Ventilation & Air Conditioning: Used for distributing fresh or conditioned air throughout the cockpit and cabin.
    • Avionics Cooling: Providing a high-volume flow of cooling air to avionics racks and equipment bays.
    • Fume Removal: Venting fumes from various areas of the airframe.

Applications

The CEET32 is the premier choice for reliable and efficient low-pressure air ducting:

  • High-Performance HVAC: Its smooth bore and large diameter make it ideal for high-volume heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems in larger general aviation aircraft and business jets.
  • Engine Compartment & APU Venting: Suitable for routing cooling air or venting fumes in the demanding firewall-forward environment.

Why Choose CEET32?

The integrity of an aircraft's heating and ventilation system is critical for both pilot/passenger comfort and flight safety (e.g., defrosting). The Thermoid CEET32 ducting offers a significant upgrade in durability and performance over standard single-ply ducting. Its robust, dual-ply construction with an encapsulated wire helix makes it highly resistant to damage and ensures a long, reliable service life. For any critical air or fume ducting application, the CEET series is the professional, engineered choice.

The Thermoid CEET (Cotton-Exterior, Elastomer-Tube) series represents a specific construction standard in aerospace ducting. The defining characteristic of CEET ducting is the placement of the reinforcing wire helix between the two layers of neoprene-impregnated fiberglass fabric. This is distinct from "CAT" ducting, where the wire is on the inside of a single ply, or "SCAT" ducting, which uses silicone instead of neoprene for higher temperatures. The CEET construction provides the smooth bore of a lined duct for efficient airflow while fully protecting the metal helix from both internal and external abrasion, making it an exceptionally durable choice for long-term installations.

Note: This ducting is designed for low-pressure applications and is not recommended for conveying liquids, abrasive materials, or for use in negative pressure (vacuum) systems. It should be secured to fittings using appropriate aviation-grade hose clamps.
