J23508-1 – Textron Aviation OEM Lord Engine Mount
Part Number: J23508-1
Manufacturer: Parker Lord (for Textron Aviation)
Common Synonyms: Vibration Isolator, Dynafocal® Mount Kit, Engine Shock Mount
Overview Section
The J23508-1 is a high-performance Lord Dynafocal® Engine Mount Kit, specifically engineered for the high-torque environment of Cessna 206, 207, and 210 aircraft. Manufactured by Parker Lord and distributed as an OEM component by Textron Aviation, this mount is the primary interface between the engine and the airframe, designed to isolate low-frequency engine vibrations and reduce cabin noise.
Constructed from a specialized natural rubber compound bonded to high-strength metal hubs, the J23508-1 is a compression-type isolator.1 It is part of a "focalized" suspension system that allows the engine to rotate slightly around its center of gravity, significantly extending the fatigue life of airframe components and reducing pilot fatigue.

Advanced Engineering & Structural Application
The J23508-1 is engineered for Three-Dimensional Vibration Dampening. In Continental-powered Cessnas, the engine generates both rotational (torque) and translational (vibration) forces that must be managed to prevent structural cracks in the firewall and instrument panel.
Engineering Insight: Dynafocal® Geometry
The J23508-1 is a "Dynafocal" mount, meaning the mounting bolts are angled toward the engine's center of gravity. This geometry ensures that the rubber is loaded in a combination of compression and shear, providing the ideal spring rate to absorb high-frequency engine pulses while remaining stiff enough to handle the massive thrust of a 300+ horsepower Continental IO-520 or IO-550 engine.
Heat and Fluid Resistance
The elastomeric compound is formulated to resist "swelling" when exposed to intermittent engine oil or fuel leaks. However, because it is an organic compound, the J23508-1 is sensitive to excessive heat. This is why it is often paired with stainless steel heat shields (e.g., P/N 1250918-2) to prevent the rubber from hardening or "charring" over time.
Aircraft Compatibility
The J23508-1 is a critical maintenance item for the heavy-duty Cessna piston fleet:
Cessna 206 / U206 / P206 (Stationair): Standard engine mount for most IO-520 and IO-550 installations.
Cessna 207 / T207 (Skywagon): Utilized in heavy-hauler configurations.
Cessna 210 / T210 (Centurion): Primary isolator for high-performance cross-country models.
Continental Engines: Designed for use with the IO-520 and IO-550 series engine beds.
The Textron J23508-1 (Lord J-23508-1) is the definitive solution for restoring the smooth flight characteristics of your high-performance Cessna. Over time, engine mounts "sag" or harden, leading to increased cabin noise and damaging airframe vibrations. By replacing your worn isolators with genuine J23508-1 Dynafocal mounts, you restore the engine’s correct alignment and vibration isolation properties. Engineered by Parker Lord, the industry leader in motion control, these mounts provide the structural integrity required to handle the high-torque demands of Continental 520 and 550 series engines while ensuring a quieter, more comfortable cabin.
Installation & Maintenance Addendum
Sag Inspection: During every annual inspection, check the "sag" of the J23508-1. If the engine's weight has caused the metal hubs to sit off-center or if you notice "eccentricity," the mount is reaching the end of its service life.
Solvent Warning: Never dip the J23508-1 in cleaning solvents. Solvents will degrade the bonded rubber, leading to premature delamination of the mount. Wipe with a dry cloth only.
Hardware Replacement: It is highly recommended to replace the mounting bolts (AN7-35A) and flat washers (NAS1149C0732R) when installing new J23508-1 mounts to ensure correct torque and tension.
