It is essential to note that while sometimes generically described as a "rubber" hose, this is an advanced composite hose featuring a Polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) inner tube, reinforced with a single braid of high-strength Corrosion Resistant Steel (CRES). This construction provides a far wider range of fluid compatibility and temperature resistance than conventional synthetic rubber hoses.

This -8 (Dash 8) size hose, with a 1/2-inch inside diameter, is manufactured to the SAE AS1933 standard. Its PTFE core is virtually inert to all aircraft fuels, oils, coolants, and hydraulic fluids (including phosphate-ester based Skydrol).
