The "shower of sparks" system is an elegant solution to the challenge of starting a large piston engine. A magneto's own breaker points are ineffective at the slow rotation of engine cranking. The starting vibrator bypasses this problem. When the start is engaged, battery power flows to the vibrator. Inside, a relay coil and the KA10-400576 capacitor form an oscillating circuit.
