The Skurka 160SG143Q-2 is a compound-wound DC machine that leverages its design for dual-mode operation. During the start cycle, a high current from the battery is applied to the series windings. In a series-wound motor, the armature and field currents are the same, producing extremely high stall torque, which is ideal for breaking away and accelerating the high inertia of the engine's compressor.
