Product Overview
This valve allows excess oil flow generated by the engine oil pump to return to the sump. The oil pump must be able to generate sufficient pressure at engine idle speeds to keep all bearings supplied with oil. This can mean that at high engine speeds, the pump is capable of producing more pressure than is required, and more pressure than the lubrication system and seals can deal with. In this event, the pressure relief valve can open and allow excess oil to run directly back to the sump.
