The Artex LNK-AL15 operates on a simple and reliable principle of electrolysis. The two external contacts act as electrodes. When submerged in water (an electrolyte), a small electrical current is able to flow between them. The device's internal circuitry detects this current flow and immediately activates the sealed power and lighting circuit. The use of a high-efficiency LED is a significant technological advantage. Unlike older incandescent lights that waste over 90% of their energy as heat, the LED converts a much higher percentage of the battery's power directly into visible light, allowing for a smaller, lighter battery to provide a brighter light for a longer duration. This is critical for maximizing survival time in a rescue scenario.
