EC1300L QT – 3M 1300L Rubber Cement 1 Quart
Available now on the Airparts.aero Marketplace.
Overview
The 3M™ Scotch-Weld™ EC1300L is a high-performance, solvent-based contact adhesive, representing the industry standard for bonding rubber, gaskets, and seals in demanding aerospace and industrial applications. This is not a common rubber cement; it is a fast-drying adhesive based on polychloroprene (neoprene) rubber, engineered for high immediate bond strength and exceptional resistance to heat, fuels, and oils. Packaged in a 1-quart can for professional use, the 1300L is a versatile and essential adhesive for A&P mechanics and MRO facilities for a wide range of non-structural bonding applications.
Key Features
High-Performance Neoprene Base: Formulated with a polychloroprene rubber base, which provides a tough, yet flexible, high-strength bond with excellent resistance to environmental factors.
High-Strength Contact Adhesive: Designed as a contact adhesive, it is applied to both surfaces and allowed to dry to a tacky state. When the two surfaces are brought together, it creates a high-strength bond with immediate handling strength, eliminating the need for long-term clamping in many applications.
Excellent Heat Resistance: The cured adhesive bond maintains its structural integrity at continuous operating temperatures up to 300°F (149°C), making it ideal for firewall-forward and other high-temperature applications.
Fuel & Oil Resistant: Specifically engineered to resist degradation, swelling, and loss of adhesion when exposed to aliphatic hydrocarbons, including aviation gasoline (100LL), jet fuel, and lubricating oils.
Brushable Viscosity: Features a smooth, easily managed viscosity, making it simple to apply a thin, uniform coat to complex shapes and surfaces with a brush or roller.

Aircraft Compatibility
The 3M 1300L is a universal maintenance and repair adhesive used across all categories of aircraft where a high-strength, fuel- and heat-resistant bond is required.
Common Applications:
Gasket & Seal Installation: The primary application is for bonding rubber gaskets and seals (e.g., door seals, inspection panel gaskets) to metal or composite airframe structures.
Firewall Forward: Used to secure firewall seals, engine baffle seals, and other flexible components in the engine compartment.
Interior Furnishings: Bonding fabric, leather, and foam to interior panels.
De-Ice Boot Repairs: Used in certain approved repair procedures for bonding patches to pneumatic de-ice boots.
Applications
The 3M 1300L is an essential adhesive for any professional aircraft maintenance facility:
Gasket Bonding: Provides a strong, permanent bond for gaskets that must resist fuels, oils, and high temperatures.
General Purpose Bonding: A versatile adhesive for bonding a wide variety of similar and dissimilar substrates, including rubber-to-metal, fabric-to-metal, and rubber-to-plastic.
Why Choose 3M 1300L?
In an aircraft, an adhesive failure can lead to fuel leaks, oil leaks, or the ingress of air and moisture, all of which are serious safety concerns. The 3M Scotch-Weld™ 1300L is the proven, time-tested solution that has been the industry standard for decades. Its specific neoprene formulation provides a level of heat and fluid resistance that general-purpose contact cements cannot match. For a reliable, durable, and airworthy bond in a demanding environment, the 3M 1300L is the professional's choice.

The 3M EC1300L is a solvent-based, crystallizing polychloroprene adhesive. The "contact bond" mechanism is a two-stage process. First, the solvent carrier evaporates, which allows the long-chain polychloroprene polymer molecules to align themselves and build initial tack. When the two tacky surfaces are brought together, they create an immediate bond based on intermolecular forces (van der Waals forces). Over the next several hours and days, the polychloroprene polymer begins to crystallize, forming a much stronger, semi-crystalline structure. It is this crystallization that gives the 3M 1300L its high ultimate strength and exceptional resistance to being weakened by heat and solvents.
Note: This is a professional chemical product. It is flammable and should be used with adequate ventilation and while wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), including solvent-resistant gloves and eye protection. Surfaces must be meticulously clean, dry, and free of oil or grease before application for proper adhesion. Refer to the 3M Technical Data Sheet (TDS) and Safety Data Sheet (SDS) for complete application and safety information.
